FOREST FIRE – A GREAT THREAT


Forest fire is bust out of fire in the forests to some activity mainly due to attrition caused by rubbing of trees. High temperature also adds up to cause of forest fire. Exactly what happens is, as the wind blows there is contact among the barks of the trees. This contact creates the attrition force among the barks of the trees. Oxygen available in the air helps along with the atmospheric temperature to cause fire.

This fire is a great threat, as it can’t be extinguished by us. It has to stop on its own. This causes damage to the wild species which live in those forests. They will lose their home, sometimes get hurt or even lose their habitat, in the worst cases. Such disaster will cause extinct of certain species that are very sensitive to changes. Along with this, the amount of forest will reduce, thereby due to less trees air purification will be less. Also burning of forest will cause emission of green house gas into the atmosphere. This will increase the atmospheric temperature; also damage the ozone layer causing global warming. The land becomes barren and almost waste.

It’s like chain we pollute the atmosphere and increase the atmospheric temperature by our day to day activities, which in turn disturbs the nature and comes like a boomerang and affects us in amplified way.
The controller for such threat is in our hands. All we have to do is to take care of the global warming. We must see that we don’t pollute the atmosphere beyond the tolerance limit. These are just simple things, if we follow them our earth will be the best place to live in.

NEW SINK FOR CARBON DIOXIDE

The main huge and natural sink for carbon dioxide is the oceans. The scientists have found one more sink that is the BASALT ROCKS. These rocks arrests the carbon dioxide to form harmless limestone. This seems to be innovative step to fight against the global warming. 

As we all know that the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere has gone up considerably, it has made an urgency to reduce it as low as possible, otherwise we have to be ready to face the various consequences caused by it. The latest example is the formation of the hurricane in USA. This is also due to climatic change, global warming. If we don't any steps to reduce it even now, its very clear that we have to be ready to face such calamities very often.  


The scientists are speeding up there researches in order to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere as low as they can. The scientists have found a new sink. This will lock the carbon dioxide in the basalt rocks. 

The scientists have decided pump SELTZER WATER into the basalt rock through a deep hole made on the rock. The carbon dioxide entering will react with the calcium in the rock to form a limestone which is not harmful. The super-heated steam is obtained from geothermal plant. Scientists will separate the steam and carbon dioxide and this carbon dioxide is pumped underground into the rocks to form limestone.


This way the amount of the scientists of "Carb Fix" have found a new way to arrest the carbon dioxide available in the atmosphere.
Such innovative methods can save our earth & natural resources.

GLOBAL WARMING'S HAND ON GLACIAL ICE

We are aware that the global warming has adverse effects over this earth. Glacial ice has also been affected by the global warming. It the past, before global warming, there were huge regions of glacial ice. The global warming has increased the warmth of the globe. This warmth has caused for melting of glacial ice. This is the reason for declination of  glacial ice region. At present itself, the glacial ice region is present in very acute level. If such global warming continues, its sure that within few years there will be no glacial ice region. The graphical representation of the glacial regions in the past and present are show below. This would give you the clear picture of the present scenario.


The main reason is the emission of Carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. It was found that around 190 billion tons of carbon dioxide is emitted into the atmosphere every year. Out this, 7 billion tons emitted due to human activity, 91 billion tons due to biological activities taking part in the ocean and the rest due to volcanoes and decaying to terrestrial plants. 

You might think that human activity is contributing the least amount. But if seen properly, the other two have been increased due to indirect human activities. Our activities, like excess mining, excess deforestation, etc., all such activities in excess has disturbed the nature. 

Its very simple, we are disturbing the nature, so in turn its disturbing us by volcanoes, earthquakes, tsunami, etc. This way we are contributing to the emission of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. We are polluting the water bodies by passing various industrial wastes into it. This affects the normal life cycle in the water bodies like oceans. This again will disturb the carbon dioxide balance between the atmosphere and ocean. So excess amount of carbon dioxide gets emitted from the oceans into the atmosphere. 

This way we are whole responsible for the excess emission of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. So we have reduce the emissions of carbon dioxide by all means. We have to save our earth & natural resources.

Carbon dioxide a new boon-----used as fuel.

Carbon dioxide along with sunlight produces methanol and gasoline which can be used as fuel. A new innovative method that could reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

As everyone know that the excess amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is the prime reason for causing global warming. The global warming has become a greatest problem for the past decade or so. Along with global warming we are facing problems regarding the energy availability. As our fossil fuels are on the verge of extinction, everyone has been alerted for an alternative source of fuels. Till now many alternative fuels have come, but this is going to be more interesting. As this will give solution for two problems at the same time.

Here carbon dioxide along with sunlight can be used as fuel. This will reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Along with this energy will also be produced that can be utilized.

In this, carbon dioxide is converted to petrol using sunlight.This is achieved by recovering the building blocks of hydrocarbons by reversing the combustion process. The product so obtained can be synthesized to produce fuels in the form of methanol or gasoline. Already this technology has been tested for small scale utilization. It might require decade or so to commercialize.

Extracting fuel from carbon dioxide is found to be some what expensive. But on fine research it could be optimized. Also the reason for encouraging it is the ever increasing price of crude.

This process uses solar reactors named Counter-Rotating Ring Receiver Reactor Recuperator  which is simply called CR5. This solar reactor uses sunlight and breaks carbon dioxide to carbon monoxide and oxygen. Its simply a heat engine, but it does chemical work instead of doing mechanical work which is done by the normal heat engine.

The prototype that is used has the size and shape of a beer keg. This contains 14 cobalt ferrite rings each having diameter of 1 foot and rotates at 1rpm(revolutions per minute). An 947.23 square foot solar reactor traps huge amount of sunlight into the reactor. This is used to heat the cobalt ferrite rings to about 1427 degree centigrade. At this temperature the carbon dioxide breaks up to carbon monoxide and oxygen. As breaking of carbon dioxide to carbon monoxide and oxygen is an endothermic reaction, it absorbs the heat from the rings. When the rings temperature goes down to 1093 degree centigrade, it is exposed to carbon dioxide.

As the cobalt ferrite rings now lack oxygen, it takes it from the carbon dioxide that it is in contact with. There by leaving carbon monoxide, which serves as building block. This building block is the source for the formation of  hydrocarbon. Further this can be converted to methanol or gasoline, which is a fuel. After the formation of fuel, the cobalt ferrite ring comes back to its original state and is ready for another cycle.

This way the carbon dioxide which is considered as a problem can be utilized properly to give energy.

This to has one drawback, heating of cobalt ferrite ring to such a large temperature at commercial level. Heating for small scale has been achieved. So we have to find how to commercialize it.

By doing this we can save our earth & natural resources.

If anyone has any idea regarding the heating of rings for commercial scale can give. Its our earth and we have to save it.

CLIMATE CHANGE PROMOTER OTHER THAN CO2

It was initially concluded that CO2 alone contributes hugely for causing climatic change. But it is found that not only CO2, soot coming out from various industries, automobiles along with smog created by the combination of smoke with fog. These are the promoters of climatic change apart from CO2.

Soot is produced by various industries. These soot comes out from the chimneys of the industries. These are carried out to some of the near by places with the help of wind. This is know as pluming. There are various forms of pluming, depending on the velocities of both the soot or plume rising and the wind. Greater the velocity of the wind, long spread of pollutants from the soot takes place. If the wind velocity is far less than the plume velocity, the pollutants will travel in the vertical direction. This will not affect the people to that extent than the former one. But this will affect the air travel, birds etc. This soot from the plume promotes pollution. There by increasing the unwanted green house gases into the atmosphere, which in turn will promote global warming. This global warming will enhance the climatic change problems. There by increasing the global temperature.

This can be reduced by having a control over the emission of soot into the atmosphere. This can be done by 3 methods.

METHOD 1: Using Proper Raw Material
By using those raw materials which would either wont give any soot or give in least amount. This will not only give soot free along with superior quality of product.
Either use top quality raw material or refine it. This will enhance the product with decline in pollutant emission.

METHOD 2:  Using Quality Process
If the raw materials cannot be processed or if we wont get pure raw material. Its more advisory to go for good quality process. This quality process will enhance the product also it wont emit pollutant. There by amount of soot produced will be low.

METHOD 3: Using Proper Post Treatment
Various adsorption processes can be applied to adsorb the soot. This will reduce the amount of soot.
This way soot can be reduced and we could prevent pollution. This will reduce the climatic change problem. 

Smog is another promoter with would enhance the climatic changes problem. Smog is caused by combination of Fog and smoke. Due to soot from industries and huge amount of smoke from the automobiles along with fog due to natural climate will together make smog. This will causes irritations and various health problems.
Also causes visibility problems and various climatic problems leading to climatic changes. 
So to save our earth & natural resources we have to have control over the pollutions which we cause.

GREATEST EFFECTS OF GLOBAL WARMING CAN BE FELT BY SMALL VARIATION IN THE GLOBAL TEMPERATURE

Humans have exploited the earth to such an extent, that from now onwards even if the average global temperature increases slightly, its effects are going to be worst.

Effect of global warming is  almost similar to the rubber band that has lost almost its elastic property & even a small pull from now will break it.

There is an average increement of around 2 degree centigrade of average global temperature. As the human exploitation is going on a rapid rate, the average temperature might increase to even 4 degree centigrade very soon.

This in turn will increase the amount of carboin dioxide in the atmosphere. Increase in concentration of carbon dioxide will lead to global warming & the chain of environmental problems continues.

The humans are not aware that they are also being affected indirectly by there activities. 

For example:
1. Due to excess of pollution the average human life span han gone down considerable. He is dieing very quickly when compared to the previous generations.

2. Due to their activities lands get submerged under the oceans which again affect them.

So nothing is late, just come together & help to save our earth & natural resources.
